Te Whau – Waiheke Island, New Zealand

Lance Herbst of Herbst Architects tours Te Whau, a weekend bach on a headland of Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf, looking to Rangitoto one way and down the Firth of Thames the other. Movable timber shutters temper the western sun and wind, and each bathroom opens to its own small courtyard.
